Interview with Keith Ellison

Listen

Joining Morgan this week is Keith Ellison, U.S. Congressman from Minnesota’s 5th District and Deputy Chair of the Democratic National Committee. The first Muslim elected to Congress, Ellison promotes a philosophy of “generosity and inclusiveness.”

On the show, he discusses the myth of messaging, his evaluation of the Democratic Party’s strategy, and advice for grassroots activists. Having ushered in remarkable levels of voter turnout in his district, Ellison addresses the potential for replicating his success on a national scale. Galvanizing the electorate, Ellison says, “[It] isn’t just about winning elections. It’s about building community. It’s a way for neighbors to talk about stuff when neighbors don’t usually talk.”
