Jesmyn Ward is an Associate Professor of Creative Writing at Tulane University and the author of several acclaimed works of fiction and non-fiction that explore the themes of race, poverty, identity, and family. She is a 2017 MacArthur Fellow, a two-time winner of the National Book Award, and one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in 2018_._ In this interview, she talks with WHRB News reporter Matt Hoisch about her latest book, Sing, Unburied, Sing, her time in college, and how being a writing teacher helps her to be a better writer.
