On Friday, October 30th, the Jazz Spectrum on WHRB premiered Donald Harrison's new single, a cover of Watermelon Man, on the JazzUrbane label. On this record, he created a lively hybrid musical style, blending progressive modern jazz with the second-line dance music of his native New Orleans. "The feeling of the track comes from my respect for all music," Harrison says. "This song is dance music that comes from the people coupled with progressive jazz. I feel I have found a sound at the crossroads of dance music, jazz club music, and concert hall jazz. This music is about unity."

We sat down with Harrison for an interview about his career and about this record.
