About
"Your classical music programs are without any doubt the most thoughtful and comprehensive before the public today."
For over 40 years, WHRB has been Boston's source for exciting and enlightening classical music programming. We broadcast the widest possible variety of classical music weekdays between 1pm and 10pm, Saturdays until 9pm, and Sundays until midnight. In keeping with our mission to both entertain and inform our listeners, we endeavor to avoid constant repetition, programming not only the best recordings available of well-known masterpieces, but also lesser known works that deserve to be heard: music that may be unfamiliar to our listeners, but will nonetheless stimulate their imagination. More information about our broadcast times and special programs can be found in our Program Guide.
Since December 1999, we have been the proud home in the greater Boston area of the most important and beloved opera broadcasts in the world, live from the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. Since the 1930s, listeners have gathered around the radio to hear the greatest voices of their time in the most famous and exciting opera performances on the air. Tune to WHRB on Saturday afternoons from December to early May for a prime seat in the Metropolitan Opera House, and hear WHRB's own long-standing Sunday Night at the Opera program from 8-12pm every Sunday.
